Luli Fama Baila Luli Baila Sea Twist Bandeau and Scrunch Bottom

The 2011 collection from Luli Fama is now available on All Wet Beachwear.

Designers Lourdes “Luli” Hanimian and Augusto Hanimian channeled all the fun of a Caribbean vacation into their vibrant Luli Fama 2011 collection entitled "Dance the Luli Dance." The bikinis, inspired by a jaunt to the Caribbean, reflect the upbeat energy of a holiday filled with partying, dancing and ample beach time. The show at Mercedes Benz fashion week in Miami even opened with a lively musical performance.

This sizzling collection features alluring cuts done in bright tropical prints in high pigment pinks, greens and blues. The Baila Luli Baila Sea Twist Bandeau and Scrunch Bottom, a classic bandeau in turquoise, green and lemon yellow, echoes the shades of sun and sea. The Mojitos y Mares Bandeau and Scrunch Bottom is done in deeper greens and blues. A playful string bikini in a coral reef print, the Estella y Fama Crystal Wavy Triangle Top and Tie Side, is accented with charming gold hardware in the shape of starfish.

Beach Beauty Tips from Celebrity Makeup Artist Lonz

AWB keeps you stocked with all of the fashionable swimwear, cover-ups and accessories you need to make the maximum impact on the beach. Being fashion obsessed, naturally we are makeup lovers. We are always looking for new tips to keep us on trend. So this weekend we consulted the expertise of Loni Jones, known as Lonz, a talented NARS makeup artist who has done makeup for fashion and television in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. She was lead makeup artist at Caribbean Fashion week 2007 – 2009, works with Ocean Style TV and has groomed and beautified celebrities including: M.I.A., Sean Paul, Tanya Stevens, Tami Chin, Yendi Phillips, Marcia Griffiths, Etana, Brick and Lace, Jovi Rockwell, and Timeka.

Loni Jones MUA

We asked her for her thoughts on beach beauty….

AWB - There are many women who will not wear makeup to the beach. I like to wear a little something. What is your opinion on makeup at the beach?

Lonz - Nothing's wrong with wearing a bit of makeup to the beach! The amount worn also depends on the occasion. So lets say it’s a beach party that starts in the evening, then by all means look glamorous. But if it’s a regular day and your intention is to get a little tan going and chill, minus the boy scoping, then keep it minimal.

AWB - What are 5 key products for beach beauty?

Lonz - SPF, lip-balm, bronzer, waterproof mascara and waterproof liner

Sephora Flashy Liner Waterproof
AWB - What about after a day at the beach? Say someone is going out to a dinner or party after having spent some time at the beach and they are looking beautifully bronzed. Are there any ways to enhance and compliment a sun-kissed look?

Lonz - Using a self-tanner is one way. Also using products that illuminate the skin.

Clarins Paris After Sun Moisturizer Self-Tanning
Nars Multiple in Malaysia

AWB - One fabulous thing about the Caribbean is the frequency of the beach parties! Do you have any tips for people on what to do to prep for a beach party the night before before?

Lonz - Waxing is a must if you plan to expose your bikini line or legs...hairy legs are so 1990! But to prep, I’d suggest drinking a lot of water to hydrate the body and skin.

AWB – Jamaica’s Heroes' Weekend recently past, did you see any cool beach party makeup looks over the weekend?

Lonz - Yes. I saw a girl who did a light and simple purple smoky eye with bronzed cheeks and lots of mascara.

AWB - Anything else you think should be added about beach beauty?

Lonz - Beach beauty is fun and sexy. It doesn't have to be over the top or excessive...

Beach Essentials Part II

After you score the perfect cover-up from one of our fabulous designers, feel free to accessorize as much or as little as you want. Although we are more laid back and strictly stick to our flip flops and shades, I’m seeing more and more fedoras and jewelry on the beach. Whether you like a floppy hat or something smaller, it’s definitely super practical and also very stylish you can protect your precious skin while looking chic!
Even though we opt for minimal accessories on the beach, it’s always smart to keep a cool bangle or long necklace handy with the right cover-up, you can easily take your beach babe self off the beach and somewhere casual and an accessory can really add some extra oomph! If you are in to accessorizing while you take the sun, remember gold tones look best in the sun. We also think you should keep it simple and stick to one or two statement pieces don’t forget, you are on the beach after all!

Beach Essentials Part I

When it comes to hitting the beach or pool, we like to consider ourselves seasoned pros at All Wet Beachwear! We have perfected our personal beach babe styles and can efficiently pack a beach bag in mere minutes for ourselves or our clients. With summer winding down in certain parts of the world, this is the last chance you’re going to get to soak up the sun! So while you may have already stocked up on the perfect bikini and a roomy beach bag, you’re still lacking major essentials like a cover-up, shades, and sandals! Even if you’re a no muss no fuss type of gal, you obviously still need flip flops, right?
We personally think the most important accessory is the cover-up; you can easily feel super chic even if you’re barefoot without any makeup on! One of our go-to beach tips is keeping a summer scarf in our beach bags if we decide to go for a quick stroll and don’t want to throw on my cover-up just tie the scarf around your waist like a sarong! When it comes to cover-ups, fun prints and over-sized shirts seem to be really popular this season, and don’t fret about mixing patterns it’s one of the hottest trends, especially on the beach (just make sure the colors compliment each other). If you want to accentuate your waist, simply add a rope belt that you can tie on. Since it’s a cover-up, you can go for a low neckline or opt for something super revealing, as long as you’re comfortable!

White After Labor Day?

Who wears white after Labor Day? All Wet Beachwear says, everyone should! That’s right, the old adage, never wear white after Labor Day is now out of style. Just look at some of the fall fashions coming down the runway and anyone can see that wearing white after the first weekend in September is the latest fashion trend.

It use to be that fall and winter fashion dictated that one wear dark colors like oranges, browns and good old black. But the times are changing and fashion trend setters like Gucci are sending models down the fall/winter runway in white.  This can apply to your winter swimwear as well.

Whether you're taking a winter vacation or soaking up the sun in your back yard don't count out white swimwear.  The 2011 line is out and includes fantastic one and two piece suits.  White sandals you ask? Yes footwear in white is also a fashion do.

Its almost 2011 and times are changing. Forget the old school way of thinking and don't pack away your white.

Swimsuit Fashion Throughout History:

As you may have guessed, All Wet Beachwear loves everything about swimwear fashion.  Whether bikinis, one pieces or cover ups we love it all! Therefore, we decided to dedicate this blog post to the history of swimsuit fashion. From the days when swimwear fashion consisted of your birthday suit to present day celebrity lines this post exposes it all.

Back in classical antiquity there was no such thing as swimwear fashion. Men and women bathed in the nude.  It was only in the 18th century when people started covering their bodies when swimming.  In fact, the swimsuit was created for the purpose of hiding the human body.  It was thought to be immoral to show ones body and thus the swimsuit was born.

In the 19th century public bathing started to become more popular. The 19th century swimwear fashion was nothing like today's.  Women wearing 19th century swimsuits were covered, almost entirely. These swimsuits were usually made of wool and resembled a gown covering the body from a woman’s shoulders down to her knees. In addition, they included a set of trousers with leggings.

Bikini’s began to be introduced just after World War II.  Interestingly enough, bikinis were named after the site of nuclear weapons testing, Bikini Atoll, because they had an “explosive effect”. The early two piece suits were not the sexy ones we know today, instead they covered much more of the body.  It wasn’t until the “60’s that bikini’s began to become known as sexy, revealing swimwear.

In 2010 swimwear is oh so popular. Celebrities to the ever day average girls spend hours picking out just the right suit.  There are countless designers and styles to pick from and covering up the body generally isn’t the goal. And, the very sexy Monokini has found its way into the closets of some of the most stylish women.

What will the next biggest swimwear fashion be?
