How to Win: Bikini vs. Bloat

Finally the time has come and your vacation is here. You've planned, saved, and even went on a diet. All this in preparation for your trip to an exotic location where you intend to spend every minute lounging in the sun with a suitcase full of nothing but swimwear. So there is nothing more disappointing than when you wake up on a beautiful day, in a tropical setting only to find that you feel like a bloated mess. What happened? What went wrong? The fact of the matter is, you have probably brought this feeling upon yourself. Think back, think back hard if necessary. What did you eat an hour ago, 5 hours ago, yesterday? What you eat can have a positive or negative effect on how your body feels. I don't know about you but when I don't feel great the last thing I want to do is squeeze into a tiny bikini. But don't worry there's still hope. With a little planning and savvy eating you can feel your best come beach time. Here are our tips of what to steer clear of to help avoid the bloat.

Not all healthy foods are your friends right now. Healthy eating is one of the keys to staying in shape. However some of our favorite good for you foods are the same ones we want to avoid come vacation time. Keep a close eye on foods that are known to cause gas. While broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers and brussel sprouts are all amazingly nutritious and help you fit into your bikini long term, short term you may want to skip them the day before or day of to avoid any discomfort while trying to relax.
Say so long to salt. While enjoying your trip try to get your salt intake from the ocean, not from your food. Sodium heavy foods can cause you to retain water which leads to that bloated feeling that can put a damper on the best of days. No need to cut out salt entirely, just be careful not to over do it.
Skip the bubbles. We aren't talking just champagne. Anything that is carbonated creates gas which can build up in the stomach and cause bloating. For a few days it's best to say goodbye to sodas and sparkling water.

These are just a few quick tips on what to avoid before and during your trip. Never let that bloated feeling keep you from killing it in your favorite bikini. Enjoy your travels!

Almost Happy Hour Drink of the Day... Lava Flow

This week for our Almost Happy Hour drink, we were inspired by the Agua Bendita Bendito Totem bikini. It's bright red with a multi colored trim which reminded us of the sweet and refreshing colors of the Lava Flow. This bikini real turns up the heat and this is the perfect drink to help you stay cool!

Lava Flow Ingredients:
1 ounces light rum
2 ounces pineapple juice
6 ounces pina colada mix ( coconut cream and pineapple juice)
1 ounce strawberry puree
1 small chunk pineapple, for garnish

Blend rum, pineapple juice, and pina colada mix with 1 cup of ice. Next, take a glass and coat the inside with strawberry puree. Pour in colada blend. Finally, use a spoon to drag the strawberry puree up through the colada drink, creating a pink stripe. Garnish with a pineapple chunk, and serve.

A Perfect Pairing: AWB + Ciate London

Everyone loves a perfect pairing, peanut butter and jelly, wine and cheese, or even Angelina and Brad. Well we are excited to introduce our newest pairing that might just become one of the greats. The moment that we have been waiting for has arrived, All Wet Beachwear and Ciate London. Nothing goes together better than a great nail polish with your favorite little bikini!

Ciate London, pronounced see-are-tey, was founded by Charlotte Knight and became famous the world over for their stunning caviar manicures. They have redefined and redesigned everything about your traditional nail polish. Starting from the inside out, they have amazing rich and vibrant pigmented colors that last. It has also been formulated for easy application and provides a smooth and even finish. The brush itself is a 250 bristle flat brush design with a long handle to provide the best strokes each time. The uniquely shaped bottle has an ergonomic design that sits better in your hand and allows for maximum control while applying. No present, even to yourself, would be complete without a small black satin bow.

The current collection is filled with so many unique colors you will have no problem finding the perfect shade to match all of your swimwear. Ciate London offers bright and bold, pretty and pastels, dark and dangerous, and I can't forget sparkles in every color! With so many option to choose from it's nearly impossible to pick just one. In addition to their nail polishes Ciate also offers manicure sets as well.  Cavier, neon glow in the dark, and flower manicures are other great ways to let your creative side run wild. Did I mention how delicious their nail polish removers smell??? I know what you're thinking, perhaps I shouldn't be sniffing nail polish remover. Perhaps you are right, but yet another great benefit about this brand is that the remover is acetone free! So as I was saying the Chocolate scented nail polish removers smells dangerously good!

As with everything we sell here at AWB we had to check out the product first hand and we are definitely pleased by the results. With spring finally here what better way to test our newest product and prepare for our bikini filled weekend ahead by painting our nails in one of their bright and rich colors. The results were amazing. The color is saturated and really holds up well over the course of the week. This color is going to be just the pop I am looking for to pair with our new Raja Embroidery Bandeau Bikini.

So while your picking out your next killer bikini check out Ciate London nail polish for the perfect finishing touch!

FUN IN THE SUN IN...

O'ahu, Hawaii

O'ahu, Hawaii, also known as "The Gathering Place" is destination to approximately 4.5 million people annually. As an island, the beach is never too far away and provides a variety of activities to suit anyone's specific desires. From Waikiki's city like beach environment to the North Shore's many secluded hideaways, O'ahu has it all. What makes this particular Hawaiian island so different from the others? It has everything anyone could ever want all in one location. It is the home to the University of Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, and Honolulu, the state capital. It provides a plethora of shopping, from gift stores to luxury boutiques. You want more? They give it to you...surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, fine dining, nightlife, music and so much more! We have selected our top 4 must see things to do in O'ahu.

Pearl Harbor is the site of a National Historical landmark that commemorates the attack on the United States naval base on December 7, 1941. This series of events is what led the US into WWII. Today you can remember the past and pay tribute by visiting the USS Arizona Memorial and the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Make sure you plan ahead because there is plenty to see and do and the waits can be lengthy.

Looking to refuel on the go? Stop by for some of O'ahu's famous food trucks for a quick bite that is anything but fast food.  Keep an eye out for Giovanni's Shrimp Truck featuring shrimp scampi, lemon butter shrimp and of course the jumbo garlic hot dog. Now I'm hungry!

Trying to find a great place to snorkel? Look no further than Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve Park. Prior to gaining access to the beach visitors must watch a short video to educate them on the preserve. It is well worth the time and entrance fee as the bay is filled with an exotic assortment of marine life. There is no shortage of colorful fish and coral in this underwater paradise.

What trip to Hawaii would be complete without a Luau? Featuring traditional Hawaiian fare and of course Hula dancing! While the dancing styles can vary from Polynesian, Tahitian, and Samoan, one thing is for sure, whichever you see will be sure to entertain. My personal favorite is the fire dancing!

With so many activities to choose from there is never a dull moment. So whether you prefer to hang up your hammock and relax or are looking for an adventure filled getaway, O'ahu is the place for you. Aloha!

Hot Spots for Last Minute Getaways

Show off your fabulous swimwear and plan a last minute summer getaway. It’s true, fall is right around the corner, but it’s not here yet.  Take advantage of these last fleeting summer days by booking a fabulous trip.  Here are some of All Wet Beachwear's favorite "Hot Spots":

Riviera Maya, Mexico:

Take advantage of this beautiful Mexican hot spot during its “off-season”.  That’s right, Riviera Maya is beautiful during the summer months but prices are low and crowds small. And, if you are hoping to bring the entire family check out the all-inclusive resorts, Iberostar Tucan and Quetzel where kids 12 and under stay and eat free.

Last minute Caribbean Cruises:

During the hot summer months one can find plenty of available cabins on Caribbean cruises.  This means cheaper prices and plenty of seats available poolside. What better place to show off your gorgeous bikini and cover up then a fabulous Caribbean cruise.

Vegas Baby!

The Venetian Vegas is offering a great last minute August vacation price. Book your escape to Las Vegas in August and get packages from $139 a night.  Soak up the sun on the Pool Deck or at the luxurious Azure Pool where you can sip mimosa's and perfect your tan.

Miami:

One of our favorite hot spots can be found in Miami, the Newport Beachside Resort.  Whether you prefer the warm ocean waters or relaxing beachfront pool deck the Newport Beachside Resort has it all. With daily activities, indulging spa, dancing and the most delicious meals you will ever have this is one of the best spots to get away!

If you have any favorite "Hot Spots" let us know and we will be sure to share them with our readers.
